Scott Pilgrim vs The World

I am totally nuts for this movie. Totally.

FYI, Wallace in the movie, is Macaulay Culkin's cousin. No wonder they have this uncanny resemblance. :D

I just hope they still sell the 6 volumes of its graphic novel version. Yes, I will even buy xbox or ps3 just to get the game.

Go get the DVD!!! :D

Long weekend.

Yeah I had a long weekend lolz.

Friday, got a few shirts from Team Manila's Warehouse sale. As I type this, I wonder where I put my Ninoy pins. Grabbed lunch at Teriyaki Boy and tried out their Yogato. I shall make a post comparing all FroYos I consumed.

Teriyaki Boy's Yogato: FroYo with Apollos, Mangoes and Coffee Jelly

Last Saturday, we watched Harry Potter 7 with Ehboi (he got 2 tickets, winning from their costume party) and saw friends inside the Greenbelt cinema.

The movie was spectacular. IMHO, its the best HP movie i've seen. It kept loyal to the book but it wasn't as glued to it like HP1. Some scenes were different but the choice of cinematic drama is favorable (like Hedwig tried fighting back, protecting Harry *sniff*). CGI was astounding, like you can imagine how Dobby's skin feels like. I, for one, loved how Umbridge's Patronus looked like, not to mention the silver doe. The emotions as you read the chapters were there. Cinematography-wise it looked like an ordinary British film, which felt great actually, like it's almost less magical but it'll still get to keep you on the edge of your seat, as frustrated, sad, clueless as the characters. That even if you've read the book, you'll still feel like you're knowing the story for the first time. The moviehouse was so quiet, eagerly waiting for the next thing to happen.

We actually talked about the posters that almost looked like Twilight. Ivan and I agreed that one fanmade poster was apt for the first part of HP7.

After the movie, we were supposed to grab dinner at Pepper Lunch but the aircondition broke down. So we went to Ayala Triangle instead...

...to check out the new restaurants and we've discovered one gem in the middle of Makati. Chef Laudico's BFast.

I seriously forgot to take pictures of what we ordered because the food was so enticing, we cant wait to jump on it. First, you have to choose between Silogs (Fried Rice, Eggs, with Atchara and Tomato slices plus the Topping or the Filling of your choice), Kalogs (Sweet potato and Eggs plus Topping/Filling), Torta (Topping/Filling with scrambled eggs and grated quezo de bola on top) and Pandenini (Pandesal with the Filling of your choice.) Toppings/Filling were Tapa, Chicken or Pork Tocino, Christmas Ham, Bacon, Pinoy-style corned beef, Sisig and many more.

We ordered a not-so-ordinary Tapsilog, because the tapa is made of Angus beef. Christmas Ham Torta, is made of scrambled eggs with green bell pepper and slices of Christmas Ham. Chicken Adobo Pandenini, is made of Pandesal with fried chicken adobo, sandwiched with cheese smothering, Spaghetti with Egg, Bacon and melted Quezo de Bola. Those are great but their Champorado, made with Belgian Chocolate and Rice Krispies, took the cake. Plus, this:

Mango Pavlova. Sweet riped mangoes on top of soft and crusty merengue.

I ate two. :s

Then we went to Malate, grabbed a bottle of Tequila and went home tipsy. Not drunk. I just had 4 shots and three glasses of Zombie.

Sunday was laundry day, Monday rain was too hard, so we just had Pizza delivered (the usual thin-crusted Angus Steakhouse and a thin-crusted Pepperoni) while watching The Walking Dead episode 4. Then tonight was KFC Double Down night. Randomly, Jeff, Ryan, Rae, Dian, Chie, Ehboi and I chatted using FB's group chat and decided to go to a secluded KFC branch since weve all heard that the Double Down was a box-office hit.

I say it is not that bad, but I seriously wanna live. :s It is a scary sandwich.

The Social Network.

This is too relevant to just take a pass on it and wait for the dvd release. The curiosity on how Mark Zuckerberg created facebook and the story behind it is finally on the big screen. Movie is entitled "The Social Network" starring Jesse Eisenberg and Justin Timberlake. Must Watch!!!

Inception (2010)

Im not sure if I should regret this not watching in 3D. Chris Nolan made me search for his name at imdb for a list of his movies.

This movie could be a close comparison to "The Matrix" since this one is more about dreams but of course there's a more interesting plot than that. I love Ellen Page. Did Joseph Gordon-Levitt modulated his voice here? It sounded kinda odd, not bad odd.

One of the factors this movie became really interesting is how Nolan depicted an individual's sense of reality. Dreams are a sitting duck for mysteries since everybody has it, (even animals for that matter), that it makes us connect ourselves with what has been going on. It is when we master our consciousness inside a dream and get to control ourselves in it, which makes us relate to all the characters in the movie. We could be the architect, the one who cant let go of memories or the one with an undying guilt.

Scenes were also directed great especially on how the second layer of the dream was made (the one inside the hotel) where the dream is affected by the reality on the first layer, like when you can hear the music in your dream while that music plays in reality where youre fast asleep. The fight scene without the gravity was flawless. You will try to figure out if Joseph was on harness or hes really floating around.

And sure, an idea is like a virus. :)

On Anxiety-Inducing Sequels

Donnie Darko is my favorite movie of all-time. If you might ask, its about a troubled teenager who was diagnosed with Schizophrenia, and sleepwalks caused by "predestination paradox" and a man-sized bunny wabbit. Sounds geeky but i tell you its ultimately cool.

Unfortunately, they were making a sequel off of it entitled S. Darko. Since Donnie (Jake Gyllenhall) died in the first movie, this sequel is now about his sister. Samantha.

Ed Westwick (Gossip Girl) will be one of the cast. :( I just hope having chuck in it could actually un-frustrate me. But on a serious note, i really do feel scared with them doing this. I love this movie so much. I know it will be bad. I just know it. *sighs*

Justin Chatwin (War Of The Worlds) will play a major role with the original Samantha Darko. This will take place seven years after Donnie died. (which actually is seven years after the first film.)

Speaking of Justin Chatwin, He will be playing Goku for the 2009 Dragonball movie, with James Marsters (Spike, Buffy The Vampire Slayer) as Lord Piccolo. Dragonball fans... would you think they could give justice to it? ~_^

-- oOo --

Gould's 1992 book-turned-to-movie Jumper made the Box-Office on its opening night and i recalled some of the people i know didnt like the movie coz of the storyline. Come on. You shouldve watched Carl Sagan Films then.

Its rumored that it will have 4 parts. I thought it will just be a trilogy. Wow saga.

Jumper (the book) was released 1992 and the sequel is entitled Reflex, which was released 2004. And they will be doing a film of that too. So the storyline will be more solid, catering for "deep people" (mukha nyo!)

I gotta admit, there is nothing to ruin on the first movie since it was just concentrated on Rachel Bilson and Hayden plus the chase with Samuel L. Jackson. I just wish for more BAMF (er... its the comic sound Nightcrawler makes when he teleports) and fight scenes. ^_^
