posted it in our yahoogroups since somebody posted that they are disappointed sa TWILIGHT kasi masyado raw nagpakalalim.
well, everyone's point of view is actually accepted. so here's my two
cents.
liking a certain genre of music is always subjective. i also dont want
to be biased but i think the second album portrays the growth on how
each of the band members did their part, from triggering their own
depth by means of personal experiences, favorites, influences etc.
some of the songs in the first album was actually written during their
school days, hence it sounds younger, and spontaneous. you know how it
feels to do something the first time. its either you can call your
best or not. either way, small beginnings are usually phenomenal.
regarding of its deepness... it actually depends on the listener if
they actually have the time to ponder what it actually means. you
could listen carefully to the words, on how the vocals delivered it,
and how the accompaniments gave thickness to that certain emotion. i
could say na kung hindi ka nga naman interesado, tatamarin ka talaga.
i could also say that comparing a certain artist to another is a big
no. because no matter how they would sound alike, its still different.
and categories/genres are overrated. have you ever compared an
abstract painting to a portrait? or simpler... apples to oranges? the
music business might have created the competition but its up to the
music lovers on how they would be affected by it. so comparing them
because tv ads or articles said so, is a complete submission to
another's opinion. so you get to ask yourself, what about your OWN
perspective?
opinions are supposed to be constructive. almost all opinions are. so
this one's healthy. napasagot nga ako e.
but for me... i actually LOVE the second album. its actually good for
Hale to make thousands of people realize that they're in for the music
and not for selling-out.
